Indian Prez Mukherjee’s Nepal visit: Traffic police urge to use alternative route



Oct 31, 2016- Traffic Police Division has requested travellers to use alternative route during the three-day Nepal visit by Indian President Pranab Mukherjee, considering some constraint in the movement of vehicles on those days. The Indian President is coming to Nepal on a three-day state visit from November 2 to 5.

Division Chief Deputy Inspector General of Police Prakash Aryal said that it would be right to use alternative routes during the visit of Indian President Mukherjee.
Vehicles owners plying Gaushala, Airport, Tinkune, New Baneshwor, Maitighar, Singha Durbar, New Road, Jamal, Kesharmahal, Lainchour, Panipokhari, Narayangopal Chowk, Thapathali, Old Baneshwor, Shankhamul and Putalisadak have been requested to use alternative routes from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm on November 2.

Similarly, traffic police also requests vehicles owners plying Gaushala, Airport, Tinkune, New Baneshwor, Maitighar, Singha Durbar, Kesharmahal, Lainchour, Lazimpat, Durbarmarg, Ghantaghar, Old Bus Park, Mitra Park, Chabahil, Bouddha, Thapathali, Jorpati, Sorhakhutte, Jaya Nepal Hall, Koteshwor, Old Baneshwor , Shankhamul and Putalisadak to use another route from 1:45 to 3:45 pm the same day.

Similarly, vehicles providing their services to Bouddha, Mitra Park, Chabahil, Gaushala, Airport, Tinkune, New Baneshwor, Maitighar, Singha Durbar, Thapathali and Jorpati areas are requested to use alternative route from 9:00 am-11:00 am on the second day of Mukherjee’s visit.

Likewise, traffic police have asked the vehicles plying Bouddha, Mitrapark, Chabahil, Airport, Tinkune, New Baneshwor, Maitighar, Singha Durbar, Bhadrakali, Thapathali, Koteshwor, Old Baneshwor, Shankhamul, Nagsthan and New Road are to use alternative routes from 10:00 am-2:00 pm on the same day.

Similarly, the traffic police has urged all to use the alternative route in Boudha, Mitrapark, Chabahil, Gaushala, Airport, Teenkune, New Baneswar, Maitighar, Singha Durbar, Bhadrakali, Old Bus Park, Thapathali, Jorpati, Koteswar, Putalisadak, and Exhibition road from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. The alternative route has to be used in Singha Durbar, Bhadrakali, New road gate, Jamal, Kesharmahal, Lainchaur, Lazimpat, Panipokhari, Sorhakhutte, Jaya Nepal Hall, Koteswar, Nagasthan and Thamel area from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on November 3. For the same evening from 6:30 to 8:30 pm, traffic police suggests riders to use the alternative route in Boudha, Mitrapark, Chabahil, Gaushala, Airport, Teenkune, New Baneswar, Maitighar, Singha Durbar, Keshar Mahal, Lainchaur, Lazimpat, Durbarmarg, Ghantaghar, Thapathali, Jorpati, Sorhakhutte, Jaya Nepal, Koteswar, Old Baneswar and Shankhamul area. Furthermore, the other alternative route has been suggested to be used from 8:00 to 10:00 pm the same night in Boudha, Mitrapark, Chabahil, Gaushala, Airport, Battisputali area.

As President Mukherjee is travelling to Janakpur and Pokhara on the third day i.e. on November 4, traffic will not be obstructed for long in Kathmandu valley. Traffic will however be affected in the morning from 9:00 to 11:00 am in Boudha, Chuchepati, Chabahil, Mitrapark, Gaushala, Tilganga, Airport, Tinkune area.

Maximum efforts are being made to ease public transportation during President Mukherjee’s visit, said DIG Aryal. The fear that other means of transport will come to a halt during the visit is not right, he added.

Regular updates about the traffic management during the visit will be aired from the Traffic FM 95.6 Mega Hertz in every ten minutes. Likewise, information about the travel arrangement can also be accessed from Nepal police mobile apps and facebook page, and by dialing telephone number 103.

Mobilisation of traffic police will also been made effective and efficient so as to avoid unnecessary hassles for the public, added Aryal. RSS
